(immediately following our Fellowship)
We are very excited about our curriculum in the Children’s Sunday School programs. We have a great group of teachers that look forward to walking alongside our MdS kids and aid in their spiritual growth.
Please plan to stick around after worship to allow your child to participate. We have a variety of Adult Education opportunities available and/or we would love to have you help in the classrooms. If you would like to volunteer, contact the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Preschool through 3rd grade
use the Holy Moly curriculum. Kids interact with the Bible following the arc of the biblical narrative. The class begins by watching an animated video of a Bible story that doesn’t use narration—instead, visuals and sound effects give kids the opportunity to retell the story in their own words. Following a time of discussion and working with the Bible, kids have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned with visual stimulating activities and crafts.
One of the many great things about this curriculum is it offers both a “pre-reader” and “reader” version of the lessons and activities. This allows us to have flexibility depending on the child’s learning ability. The classes will meet together to watch the video in “group time” and will go to their appropriate classes for the lesson and activity.
are working through the Connect curriculum. Instead of just looking at and learning individual Bible stories, tweens are able to start exploring how overall themes and events connect with the larger story of the Bible. Studentsare encouraged to ask questions, make connections and reflect, helping them to make sense of the Bible. Videos using slap-stick humor and solid theology is used to engage students followed by lively discussions and activities. This curriculum extends into the Jr. High classroom and the lower elementary grades use the “Connect” Bible as part of their curriculum.
Cherub Club (during church service)
Kids through 7 years old are invited to Cherub Club during service. After the children’s talk time, the kids will be dismissed with Miss Jane for the remainder of the service. Miss Jane is one of a kind with imaginative lessons and crafts for kids.
On Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of every month) children will be brought back into service to engage with the community at large in this participatory element of worship. Other weeks, children can be picked up after service in Room 108.
